Retailer Review- Piperlime's Best Boots

One of the best shoe websites, Piperlime, is having a 2 day sale, with 25% off all boots.

When looking for boots, I always want a heel, even if it is slight. Any height is good height!  Wedges are always a great option because they add those extra inches while still remaining comfortable.

Knee-high boots and riding boots are a great choice for every day wear.  They can be dressed up or down, with some great skinny jeans or even a dress.  Booties (short boots) are similar in versatility but are also great for flared or bootleg pants where riding boots are not as useful.

Here are some of my top pics, all under $100 even before the discount.

Work it Wednesday- Easy Hair

One aspect of my look I have always struggled with is my hair! As a child it was soft and dark blonde, with waves, while now it has become dull ash brown with frizzy curls.  I have cut it short, medium, and long, with/without bangs, and experimented with colors dark and light.
For me the ultimate look is one that is easy to maintain while looking great. No-brainer, right? Isn't that what we all want?  However running a busy and very active life requires ease in style and an out-of face quality.  I have developed a few easy hairstyles that work for me, and I think this one in particular would work for everyone and all hair types.
The idea is to do a reverse french braid (meaning, that instead of pulling the piece in front and layering on top, you put in underneath), starting with top sections of hair and adding a piece each time; reapeated both sides.  Occasionally I will make a chignon bun at the end, but I find the ponytail to be a bit simpler with my long hair. The best part about this look is the versatility.  I wore it one day with the kids then straight to work, where I received many compliments.

How To Wear

One thing I have always wondered about with scarves is the different ways they can be worn and how to tie them.  Lucky for me, I stumbled across this great photo tutorial on pinterest!

Complete Your Outfit

Today's guest blogger Courtney returns with some great tips on how to take a regular outfit to the next level in a few easy steps. Thanks, Courtney!

If you’ve ever watched TLC’s What Not to Wear, you know how much Clinton and Stacey emphasize the importance an outfit – not just pants and a shirt, but an actual outfit that has been given some thought with pieces of clothing that actually make sense together. At the end of putting together any outfit, they also almost always talk about a “completer” piece. Sometimes this completer piece is a jacket or cardigan, and sometimes it is a piece of jewelry.

For me, one of my favorite, go-to completer pieces is a necklace. The simple addition of a necklace always seems to bring a look together for me. Depending on what you’re wearing, a statement necklace or a simple pendant could be a great way to complete your outfit. I love the collar necklace with something more basic, like a tee or plain sheath dress. And for me, a layered pendant goes with just about anything. It really is my go-to piece of jewelry for any outfit.

My Life as Mom

One thing I can't stand is my non-photogenic nature (have you ever seen the Friend's episode about Chandler and trying to take engagement pics? Yeah, that's me) but I do love piecing together a great outfit with super cheap items and marrying fashion with functionality.

Here are two of my go-to outfits lately, one that represents some awesome deals and one that works well for my everyday life while still looking good.

As far as keeping things inexpensive goes, the general idea I follow is finding a look I like and recreating it. It starts a part at a time while following sales and in some cases, being very very patient.

Coat- BP at Nordstrom $35, Tank top- $3 at Target, Pleated Capris- $25 at Gap, Loafers- $20 at American Eagle, Braided Belt- $2.50 at Forever 21

The second most important criteria for me is comfort level.  I have to be able to get dressed in the morning and keep in on through the days activities.  While it would be amazing to spend every day in gym clothes at the park with my kids, I find putting myself together creates a snowball effect of confidence in myself, my abilities as a mom, and also motivates me to work out. Win win win!

My secret weapon of this outfit is the wedge oxfords.  Wedges are much more comfortable but still give height and length.

What tricks or tips do you follow for a great comfortable outfit while keeping the price low?
